Meghan Markle's Engagement Ring

A Royal Engagement

All eyes are on Meghan Markle’s engagement ring, as the royal couple announced their engagement this weekend. For months, we have all watched the royal couple’s love story. Wondering if this happy couple would have their fairy tale ending. Now that Prince Harry has popped the question,  it is all about the ring

The Engagement Ring

Meghan Markle was spotted wearing a yellow gold, 3 stone trilogy ring with a cushion cut center stone of about 2.5 – 3 carats. The two brilliant cut side stone have a symbolic meaning, having once belonged to a piece of jewelry from Harry’s mother, Princess Diana. “The ring is obviously yellow gold because that is her favorite and the main stone itself is sourced from Botswana. The little diamonds on either side, are from my mother’s jewelry collection, to make sure that she is with us on this crazy journey together.” Prince Harry explained in a television interview.

The Importance Of Choosing Ethical Diamonds

We applaud Prince Harry for stating the sourcing of his diamond and for choosing an ethical stone. Both Harry and Meghan are known for their charity work, making it unsurprising that he would select a diamond sourced from Botswana. Botswana is the one region in Africa that diamonds are ethically sourced. With proceeds from the mine going directly back into the local community, used for healthcare, education and sustainable, ethical employment. Ecksand is a company that exclusively uses natural and ethical gemstones. All Ecksand jewelry is handcrafted in Canada, using ethically sourced diamonds from Canada, Botswana, Australia and Russia.
